Die-casting operator — Wright County

Now hiring: we are hiring a die-casting operator in Wright County, Iowa. You will work in the melting bay of a steel foundry. Ideal candidate: • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding Day-to-day duties: • Make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities • Maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings • Tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle • Assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects • Shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale Freshers welcome — about 4 years of practice is enough.
