Pipe tig welder — East Dunbartonshire

Vacancy available: we are hiring a pipe tig welder in East Dunbartonshire, Scotland. The job is at a busy sheet-metal workshop. What we are looking for: • Sound knowledge of shielding gases and tungsten selection • Able to read isometric and fabrication drawings • Own basic hand tools and PPE Day-to-day duties: • Carry out 6G pipe welds where required • Set up the argon shielding gas and check the flow rate at the regulator • Select the tungsten type and gas cup size to suit the job • Control heat input so thin sheet does not warp • Set the amperage on the machine and modulate the current with the foot pedal • Back-purge stainless pipe to stop root oxidation (sugaring) At least 2 year(s) in a similar role.
