Core maker — Kearny County

Immediate opening: we are hiring a core maker in Kearny County, Kansas. You will be based in a non-ferrous casting shop. On a typical shift you will inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects; prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes; melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces; check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring; make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities; maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings. Ideal candidate: • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding • Basic grinding and fettling skills 6+ years on the tools preferred.
