We are recruiting: we are hiring a shakeout operator in Stark County, Illinois. You will be based at a busy iron foundry. The role involves pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles; make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities; shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale; fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges; inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects; cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch. Ideal candidate: • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards We offer $3,600 per month plus benefits.
