Great opportunity: we are hiring a core maker in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. You will be based at a busy iron foundry. The role involves tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle; make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities; check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring; carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand; mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture; pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles. Ideal candidate: • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal • Physically fit to lift heavy moulding boxes and castings • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough. Rotating shifts. We offer $5,400 per month plus benefits. Walk-in interviews this week.
