Great opportunity: core maker (Virginia)

Now hiring: we are hiring a core maker in City of Norton, Virginia. You will work in the melting bay of a steel foundry. What we are looking for: • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding • Keen eye for casting defects during inspection • Experience working in a ferrous or non-ferrous foundry On a typical shift you will fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges; inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects; assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together; tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle; mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture; cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch.
