Core maker — San Diego County

Great opportunity: we are hiring a core maker in San Diego County, California. On a typical shift you will maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings; carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand; pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles; fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges; inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects; apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity. Ideal candidate: • Keen eye for casting defects during inspection • Basic grinding and fettling skills • Physically fit to lift heavy moulding boxes and castings Part-time with flexible hours.
