Furnace operator — Shelby County

Vacancy available: we are hiring a furnace operator in Shelby County, Iowa. You will be based at a brass and bronze foundry. Day to day you will tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle; make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities; prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes; apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity; inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects; carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand. Ideal candidate: • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts Freshers welcome — about 2 years of practice is enough.
