Now hiring: we are hiring a blocklayer in Macon County, Illinois. You will work on a scaffolded high-rise site. Requirements: • Sound knowledge of mortar mixes and bonds (stretcher, English, Flemish) • Proven experience laying facing and engineering bricks • Able to lay to line, level and plumb consistently The role involves pointing and repointing weathered mortar joints; building the corners (leads) first and racking back the courses; checking every course for height and level with a gauge rod; mixing mortar to the right consistency with sand, cement and plasticiser; raking out and tooling the joints to a struck or bucket-handle finish. Freshers welcome — about 4 years of practice is enough. Pay around $3,700 per month, based on your experience. Overtime paid at a premium rate. Rotating shifts. Walk-in interviews this week.
