Requirements: • Sound knowledge of argon gas settings and tungsten selection • Can read fabrication drawings and welding symbols • Able to pass a weld test on the spot Day-to-day duties: • Sharpen tungsten electrodes and fit the correct gas cup size • Feed filler rod by hand while holding a steady weld pool • Inspect welds visually for porosity, cracks and undercut • Clamp and fit up components on the jig before welding • Tack weld parts to hold the fit-up before the final run • Grind, blend and polish finished welds to a clean finish At least 4 year(s) in a similar role.
