On a typical shift you will direct the crane operator with standard hand signals and radio; set up spreader bars and lifting beams for long or awkward loads; fit tag lines to control and steady suspended loads; guide loads through tight openings into their final position; read lift plans and method statements before starting; attach wire rope and chain slings to loads using shackles and hooks.
