Immediate opening: we are hiring a core maker in Patrick County, Virginia. The role involves assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together; mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture; melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces; cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch; fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges. Ideal candidate: • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling • Physically fit to lift heavy moulding boxes and castings Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough.
