Metal caster — Crawford County

Now hiring: we are hiring a metal caster in Crawford County, Iowa. The job is in the melting bay of a steel foundry. On a typical shift you will operate the sand muller and the reclamation plant; shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale; maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings; melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces; inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects. Requirements: • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling Freshers welcome — about 4 years of practice is enough.
