GTAW welder — Saint Clair County

Great opportunity: we are hiring a GTAW welder in Saint Clair County, Illinois. You will work at an automotive body and exhaust shop. Requirements: • Steady hand and good hand-eye coordination • Sound knowledge of argon gas settings and tungsten selection The role involves: • Back-purge pipe joints with argon so the root does not oxidise • Strike the arc with high-frequency start and control heat with the foot pedal • Sharpen tungsten electrodes and fit the correct gas cup size • TIG weld aluminium sections after cleaning off the oxide layer • Set the argon flow on the flowmeter and check the hose for leaks • Run butt, fillet, lap and corner joints to spec Freshers welcome — about 1 years of practice is enough.
