Shakeout operator — Montgomery County

Great opportunity: we are hiring a shakeout operator in Montgomery County, New York. The role involves: • Tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects • Shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale • Pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles • Maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings • Check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring Ideal candidate: • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal Full-time, day shift.
