Day to day you will set the argon flow on the flowmeter and check the hose for leaks; weld thin stainless steel sheet without burning through; run butt, fillet, lap and corner joints to spec; sharpen tungsten electrodes and fit the correct gas cup size; clamp and fit up components on the jig before welding; read welding symbols and joint details off the fabrication drawing. You should have: • Good eyesight for fine sheet-metal work • Able to TIG weld stainless steel and aluminium to a neat standard • Aware of PPE, fume extraction and hot-work safety Freshers welcome — about 3 years of practice is enough.
