Garment machinist — Bergen County

Great opportunity: we are hiring a garment machinist in Bergen County, New Jersey. You will work at a busy garment factory. The role involves: • Change needles, presser feet and folders to suit the fabric and operation • Inspect each piece for skipped stitches, broken thread and needle holes • Press open seams or use a folder/binder attachment for bound edges • Sew bartacks and buttonholes and attach buttons where required • Thread the machine, wind bobbins and balance top and bottom tension • Trim loose threads, clip curves and notch corners as you go Ideal candidate: • Understands fabric types and how to handle knits versus wovens • Can hit the daily piece-rate target consistently 1+ years on the tools preferred. $32 per hour, negotiable for the right hands.
