Vacancy available: we are hiring a groundskeeper in Wayne County, Illinois. You will be based in a botanical garden. Ideal candidate: • Happy to work outdoors in all weather • Good knowledge of common plants, shrubs and seasonal planting • Pesticide spraying certificate (PA1/PA6) an advantage The role involves: • Operate strimmers, leaf blowers and brush cutters • Prune hedges, shrubs and ornamental trees with secateurs and hedge trimmers • Cut back tree branches and clear overhanging limbs • Lay turf and oversow bare patches of lawn • Sharpen, clean and oil hand tools and mower blades • Rake up fallen leaves, grass clippings and garden waste Rotating shifts. $28 per hour, negotiable for the right hands.
