Immediate opening: we are hiring a presser in Charles City County, Virginia. The job is in a tailoring workshop. What we are looking for: • Comfortable standing long shifts in a hot, humid environment • A keen eye for scorch, shine and uneven creases The role involves set the iron temperature to suit cotton, silk, wool and synthetic fabrics; remove creases, wrinkles and packing folds with a steam iron; use a pressing cloth to protect delicate fabrics; shape collars, cuffs and lapels using a tailor's ham and sleeve board; keep the boiler topped up and hold steady steam pressure; hang or fold pressed garments and pass them to packing. 2+ years on the tools preferred.
