Now hiring: we are hiring a lifting rigger in Scott County, Virginia. The job is on an offshore oil and gas platform. On the job you will handle: • Direct the crane operator with standard hand signals and radio • Check sling angles to stay within the working load limit • Select the correct slings, shackles and chains for each load's weight • Calculate load weight and centre of gravity before every lift • Set up spreader bars and lifting beams for long or awkward loads • Attach wire rope and chain slings to loads using shackles and hooks What we are looking for: • Able to inspect and reject defective lifting gear • Confident with standard crane hand signals Six days a week, one day off.
