The role involves: • Jack up vehicles safely and set them on axle stands • Check tread depth with a depth gauge and spot uneven wear • Fit new tyres onto rims and seat the bead correctly • Torque the wheel nuts to spec with a torque wrench • Balance wheels on a computerised wheel balancer and fit clip-on weights • Vulcanize larger cuts on commercial tyres Requirements: • Comfortable working outdoors and in all weathers • A good eye for tread wear and sidewall damage • Confident operating a tyre changer and wheel balancer Freshers welcome — about 3 years of practice is enough.
