Furnace operator — Matanuska-Susitna Borough

We are recruiting: we are hiring a furnace operator in Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Alaska. You will be based at an aluminium die-casting plant. Day to day you will melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces; pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles; cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch; apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity; check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring. You should have: • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts • Basic grinding and fettling skills Part-time with flexible hours. Overtime paid at a premium rate.
