Vacancy available: we are hiring a blocklayer in Wallace County, Kansas. Requirements: • Reliable timekeeping and able to hit daily brick targets • Sound knowledge of mortar mixes and bonds (stretcher, English, Flemish) • Physically fit for lifting bricks and blocks all day The role involves: • Setting out walls from the drawings and marking the brick gauge • Laying bricks to the line, level and plumb • Checking every course for height and level with a gauge rod • Spreading and furrowing mortar beds with the trowel • Bedding in air bricks, weep holes and wall starters • Cutting bricks to size with a bolster and club hammer or angle grinder Freshers welcome — about 1 years of practice is enough. $5,500 per month, negotiable for the right hands.
