Immediate opening: brick and block layer (Illinois)

Now hiring: we are hiring a brick and block layer in McDonough County, Illinois. The job is at a residential building site. Ideal candidate: • Proven experience laying facing and engineering bricks • Able to lay to line, level and plumb consistently • Comfortable working at height on scaffolding The role involves: • Building the corners (leads) first and racking back the courses • Checking every course for height and level with a gauge rod • Pointing and repointing weathered mortar joints • Brushing the wall down and removing mortar snots as you go • Spreading and furrowing mortar beds with the trowel • Raking out and tooling the joints to a struck or bucket-handle finish 1+ years on the tools preferred. Full-time, day shift. A stable, long-term role with a friendly crew. Walk-in interviews this week.
