Great opportunity: we are hiring a furnace operator in Floyd County, Georgia. The job is in the melting bay of a steel foundry. You should have: • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards • Experience working in a ferrous or non-ferrous foundry Day-to-day duties: • Prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes • Apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity • Check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects • Assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together Full-time with occasional weekends.
