Now hiring: we are hiring a furnace operator in Whatcom County, Washington. The job is in a non-ferrous casting shop. You should have: • Basic grinding and fettling skills • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal • Experience working in a ferrous or non-ferrous foundry Day-to-day duties: • Carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand • Skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring • Prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes • Check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring • Maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings 1+ years on the tools preferred.
