Meat trimmer — Amherst County

Great opportunity: we are hiring a meat trimmer in Amherst County, Virginia. You will be based at a wholesale meat market. What we are looking for: • Quick and accurate on the weighing scales and order maths • Knowledge of halal slaughter and handling where required • Able to identify primal cuts of beef, mutton and poultry Day to day you will monitor chiller and freezer temperatures to keep the cold chain; break down beef, mutton and chicken carcasses into primal cuts; take customer orders and advise on cuts and cooking; sharpen and hone knives on a steel and whetstone; keep halal cuts separated and clearly handled; portion steaks, chops and cutlets to the ordered weights.
