Furnace operator — Hartlepool

We are recruiting: we are hiring a furnace operator in Hartlepool, England. You will be based at a busy iron foundry. The role involves: • Carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand • Apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity • Tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle • Assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects • Melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces What we are looking for: • Physically fit to lift heavy moulding boxes and castings • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal Full-time, day shift.
